Jean Drapas ( 1882-1964 ) was a French painter, designer, decorator and poster artist. He was considered one of the premier artists of the Art Nouveau and Art Deco periods. He was also a member of the Academie Beaux Arts. He was well known for his contributions to such prestigous puiblications as Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar but he was most famous for his work as the decorator of the steam ships SS lle-de France, SS Lirberte and the Normandie. This print has vibrant colors and is a wonderful example of the pochoir process. It is on very thin paper and has been adhered to a piece of water color paper.
