Cutting Fodder, also known as Family in the Field, is an original signed 1938 etching by the American artist John E. Costigan ( 1888-1972 )a self-taught painter and printmaker. The locale for Costigan’s  best-known painting was his own farm in Orangeburg, N.Y. His most frequent theme was life on the farm as in Cutting Fodder in which the artist used his family and his family farm as the subjects. Signed in pencil J. E. Costigan N. A. S. A. E. and is in excellent condition.
