The Cries of London were a visual record of London’s trademen and were illustrated by many different artists over three centuries. Francis Wheatley’s series were amongst the most famous.
His 14 paintings that were exhibited at the Royal Academy were so popular that a series of stipple engravings were executed by some of the most talented engravers of the day. This print is in very good condition but has had all the margins reduced. The original hand coloring is especially fine.
