One of 50 chromolithographs from The Illustrated Book of Poultry published in the mid 1880’s as part of a natural history series by the English publishing house Cassell & Company. These illustrations are after paintings by the ornithological artist J.W. Ludlow who specialized in domestic birds. This classic set of prints are highly appreciated for their depiction of these prize winning birds in their natural setting and for their individuality and one often sees them reproduced in contemporary posters. They are all in good condition with the usual aging spots and wear and tear around the edges on some.
