In 1937 this chair lift, ridden here by Merrie Dunn, cost $80,000 to build. The spectacular growth of the sport of skiing at the time is shown by the fact that as late as 1933 there was not one ski town in the U.S. At the time of this photo there were about 1,000. This print is matted and in good condition.
