Drawn from life by Laugee for the May 23rd supplement to The Graphic of Victor Hugo (1802-1885), the day after his death. He was considered France’s greatest poet and was known outside of France for his novels Les Miserables and The Hunchback of Notre Dame. This is a strong dark impression in good condition with a little rippling of the paper on the right side margin. The print is signed in plate.
