Arthur Burdett Frost ( 1851- 1928 ) was considered one of the great illustrators of the ” Golden Age of American Illustration. ” He illustrated 90 books including the characters of Uncle Remus and Brer Rabbit. He also produced thousands of illustrations for such prestigious publications such as Harper’s Weekly, Scribner’s Monthly, Life Magazine, the Graphic and Colliers Magazine. He was best known for his hunting and shooting prints which he executed with realistic feeling for the natural world. This original wood engraving is a Harper’s Weekly title page Nov. 20, 1869 and is in good condition. The size includes a paper mat.
