Engraved by Francois Vivares ( 1709 – 1780 ) after a painting by Gaspar Dughet Poussin (1615-1675 ).
Vivares was one of the earliest and most influential engravers of English landscape engraving. Born in France he moved to England at the age of 18 where he became enamored with the English landscape and went on to became highly regarded and influential as a landscape engraver. This beautiful hand colored engraving is laid down and has a little damage but is mostly in good condition.
