An original 1889 chromolithograph showing two hunters in the field firing on a couple of Pinnated Grouse in the bush while their horse drawn wagon and driver wait for them. According to the text this scene takes place in a lonely army post in Dakota. From a portfolio of 15 chromolithographs by various artists entitled Sport or Fishing and Hunting published by Bradlee Whidden, Boston. Paper size 16.74 x 24,  image size 12 x 18. In excellent condition.
Rufus Fairchild Zogbaum (August 28, 1849 – October 22, 1925) was an American illustrator, painter, journalist, and writer. He is primarily known as an illustrator for late 19th century news magazines. His works were regularly featured in Harper’s Weekly magazine.
