H.W. Brewer was well known for his ariel views of topographical panoramas. He was also the favorite perspectivist of the famous architect George Frederick Bodley. This image is a very detailed view of 20th century Manchester, England. In the bottom margin there is a key to 70 different places of interest in the image. It would be interesting to compare this 1889 Manchester to Manchester of today. It was a supplement to Harpers Weekly and has the original folds. It has been very nicely hand colored and is linen backed to preserve it’s integrity.
