The Lucille Lucas Gallery is a family business, with a history spanning over 80 years, we house antique prints and 20th century art covering numerous genre. Our collection includes Audubon, Redoute, Prevost, Barraband, Gould, Piranesi, Daumiar, Currier and Ives, Harper’s Weekly, Chagal, Matisse, Picasso and many other publications and artists.
Sydney and Phyllis Lucas were the first North American publishers of original, signed, limited edition Salvador Dali lithographs. The Lucas Collection of Dali Originals, published between 1965 and 1974, are considered among Salvador Dali’s best graphic works.
Lucille Lucas Gallery History
1920’s – Sydney Lucas arrived in New York City via Paris and founded “The Paris Etching Society” and ” Camilla Lucas Publishing ” company. During his career, Sydney published many thousands of images. He brought art into the homes of people at all levels of income through his etchings, serigraphs, woodblock prints, restrikes and reproductions. The various subjects included Redouté and Prevost Flowers, Barraband and Gould Birds, Piranesi, French Landscapes, Urban Scenes, Women, Children, Animals, Hunting and much more.
1950’s – Fascinated by the extensive history of the print world, Phyllis Lucas owned and operated one of the most successful antique print galleries in mid-town Manhattan for almost 50 years.
1960’s – Sydney and Phyllis Lucas became the first North American publishers of original signed, limited edition lithographs by the famous surrealist artist Salvador Dali. They worked directly with Mr. Dali over several years and the three created such fine images that in 1985 the Lucas’ Collection of limited edition lithographs from Salvador Dali’s paintings were displayed alongside his original paintings at the Salvador Dali Museum in St. Petersburg, Florida.
1970’s – Lucille Lucas moved west after falling in love with the wide-open skies and beauty of the Rocky Mountains. Settling in the historic old mining town, turned ski town, of Crested Butte, Colorado. As an artist with a background and education in Printmaking, Lucille carried on the family tradition and opened one of the first fine art galleries in Crested Butte. She is listed in the Davenport’s Art Reference and Price Guide.
1990’s – After adventuring all over the world, Lucille moved over 200,000 of the prints from New York to Crested Butte. She again continued the family tradition and reopened the Lucille Lucas Gallery to house a great collection of contemporary Crested Butte and Rocky Mountain artists and photographers, the extensive collection of prints from the 15th Century to the present, and the Sydney and Phyllis Lucas published Dali Lithographs.

We also exhibit a great collection of original contemporary paintings andphotography. We include original works as well as giclee prints.
Vintage Skiing Prints and Vintage Cycling Prints.
We offer vintage skiing and cycling prints or posters from Bottecchia to the Tour de France and from Chamonix to Villemont.
