Rumex Acetosella-sheeps sorrel hand colored engraving by William Curtis (1746-1799 ) published his greatest work , Flora Londinensis, over a 23 year period. This important folio describes and illustrates all the wild flowering species growing within a ten mile radius of the center of London. The resulting 6 volumes were one of the first works on the flora of Britain accessible to the general reader which could assist in the identification of a species.
